Misalnya, bar kosong yang terlalu ringat dan ataupun berat; begitu pula dengan <em>knurling<\/em>-nya yang terlalu tajam, yang berpotensi melukai tangan, dan atau knurling yang terlalu lembut, sehingga cengkeraman tangan tidak solid dan mudah slip. Sebab, dengan alat gym bench press standar saja, seorang lifter masih bisa mengalami cedera, karena faktor gagal angkat dan atau salah eksekusi teknik, apalagi berlatih dengan alat gym seadanya itu.
